Japanese green tea Sencha tea
Sencha is the most popular green tea in Japan. It has a greener color and a greener taste—reminiscent of freshly cut grass—than Chinese green tea. This is due to the different production method: Japanese Sencha green tea leaves are quickly steamed after harvest to prevent oxidation.
Sencha tea is usually a whole leaf tea. Packed in tea bags, it is steeped in warm water. In comparison, the Japanese Matcha tea is a powdered tea that is dissolved in water.
This Sencha comes from the Japanese region of Shizuoka. Great care was taken during its production to avoid breaking the dried leaves and to prevent the creation of dust. It is offered in a very attractive gift packaging.
use
The lower the temperature of the water used, the greener the taste of the infusion. Ideally, the water for this tea should have a temperature of 70°. At higher water temperatures, the bitterness of the Sencha tea increases. The tea is left to steep in the water for 2 minutes and then the tea bag is removed.
With its great green color, Sencha tea is also well suited for a colorful iced tea.
